FRCOG work in Leverett during 2005
- Staff worked with the Town to prepare the Town's Commonwealth Capital application and supporting materials.
- With the assistance of the Leverett Natural Hazard Mitigation Committee,
- Staff completed a Local Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Town to address hazards such as flooding and severe winter storms, including the creation of floodplain and other GIS mapping of critical facilities (e.g. schools, nursing homes, police and fire stations, and shelters).
- Staff continued efforts to complete a feasibility study for the MetacometñMonadnockñMattabesett (MMM) Trail.
- Staff secured a grant and began work on a Strategic Plan for Renewable Energy for the Pioneer Valley.
- Staff developed an emergency resource directory for first responders throughout Western Massachusetts.
- Staff updated state databases containing information on critical infrastructure and facilities in the region.
- Staff assisted in the development of a mutual aid agreement between the 101 towns of Western Massachusetts.
- Staff completed a pedestrian assessment survey.
- Staff provided the Town with bicycle parking racks as part of Transportation Demand Management Program Share the Road in the Connecticut River Valley.
- Staff conducted four municipal requested, and one FRCOG requested traffic counts. The FRCOG request count was in support of its Regional Traffic Count Program.
- Supported by a grant from the John Adams Innovation Institute which the FRCOG administers, Leverett was selected as one of three western Massachusetts locations for the Underserved Communities Pilot Project which will study ways to improve telecommunication services.
- Staff completed the reporting requirements to maintain the Town's eligibility for the Economic Development Incentive Program through the Franklin County Economic Target Area.
- Staff created a GIS map showing 100 year flood zones and roads at risk for possible flood damage.
