Building Permit Fee Schedule
(Effective May 1, 2007)
Value of Project
In order to keep the fees equitable for the 14 towns in our building program, the cost of construction is determined as follows. This valuation procedure does not affect taxation by your town assessors.
- All new construction for dwelling units/additions: $100/sq. ft.
- Sunrooms: $75/sq.ft.
- Basement Renovations: $50/sq.ft.
- Mobile Homes: $50/sq.ft.
- Commercial & Industrial new construction, additions: $120/sq. ft. or lowest contract price.
- Commercial accessory buildings and unfinished space in commercial bldgs: $50/sq. ft.
- Conversion of non-residential space to living space: $90/sq. ft.
- Agricultural Barns: $15/sq.ft.
- Residential accessory buildings & non-living space: $10/sq. ft.
- Residential garages: $30/sq. ft.
- Conversion of non-commercial/industrial space to commercial/industrial space: $110/sq. ft.
- Pre-engineered metal commercial buildings: $50/sq. ft. or lowest contract price.
- If the project is not related to sq.ft., the fee will be based on a sound estimate of the cost of construction.
Fees
Once the cost of construction is determined, the fee is based on $6 per $1,000 of value. There is a minimum permit fee of $30.
Other Fees
- Above ground pool: $50
- In-ground pool: $75
- Change of Use & Occupancy (no structural renovations): $50
- Temporary Construction Trailer: $50
- Residential Siding, Roofing, or replacement windows: $50 each category
- Chimney and/or solid fuel appliances: $50 each
- Replacement of Permit Card or Certificate of Occupancy: $10
- Re-inspection fee (each visit): $30
- Signs: $50
- Fire/natural disaster repairs/reconstruction (1 & 2 family): $50
- Demolition - residential: No Fee
- Demolition - other: $50
- Temporary tents: $10
- Annual inspection fee for indus'l bldgs (to cover small projects to be done by in-house maintenance dept.): $200-$400
