Franklin County Public School Project
Project Overview
The Franklin County Public School project was conducted in two phases: a cost efficiency study and a governance analysis. The cost efficiency study has resulted in several cooperative purchasing bids that the FRCOG helped implement including an effort to create a single regular transportation contract for Franklin County school districts; procuring GASB 45 auditing services; and procuring shared trades people contracts. Current Activities
The FRCOG is assisting Franklin County School Superintendents with several cooperative purchasing efforts. The FRCOG is also working with the Franklin County School Committee Caucus, made up of School Committee members from all Franklin County school districts, to develop a Franklin County educational summit to be held later this year. The purpose of the event will be to assess project activities and success to date; analyze additional potential areas of collaboration, innovation, and consolidation; and develop a plan for a third phase of work on this topic.
Future Plans
Work with the Franklin County legislative delegation and Franklin County School Committee Caucus to determine a future focus and secure funding to continue efforts.
