Current Activities

The Parent Education Workgroup meets regularly to develop strategies for ongoing community outreach for implementing Guiding Good Choices. Guiding Good Choices is currently being offered in the following communities: Greenfield, Leverett and Sunderland. The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts awarded CCT $4,500 in order to offer 4 more sessions of Guiding Good Choices to the parents of Franklin County.

The Parent Education Program has also facilitated the inception of two new Safe Homes Parent Network groups, both within the Gill Montague Regional School District. The high school Safe Homes Parent Nework is being coordinated by the senior class student council. The middle school effort is being facilitated by the PTO.

Future Plans

Guiding Good Choices is slated to get underway this spring in Turners Falls and at the Greenfield jail as part of the release program. Plans are underway for sessions at Leyden Woods and Oak Courts. The Community Coalition for Teens is excited to have a Guiding Good Choices co-facilitator who is fluent in 4 languages who will be joining us. This will allow us to reach into community sectors where English is a second language.
